Country and City Life!

Going back before we had our home built.........Upon arrival to Georgia, we found a cute and well-kept long-term rental on Airbnb.  Our plan was to get a feel of town to see if we liked it, and then to find "the right side of town" for us to buy land and build on.  We loved our rental and got acquainted with the area.  Joseph, my husband, had the same job.  His company has DC's all over the country.  He had simply transferred from Chicago to Georgia at his company.  It was a blessing for us.  Most things went well.  There were a few hiccups such as the fact that I had lost my social security card years before, we're talking probably 10 years back....I had never looked into it or reported it, I had my SS memorized, so I went about life.  However, I started getting all kinds of bills that I know were not me such as a truck bill.  I've never owned a truck in my life!  I wish!  There was a bank account opened in my name at a bank I've never been associated with as I started getting bank statements.  Crazy!  I personally felt like this was a super-natural attack on me.  I had to get to the bottom of it.  Finally, we did and got that monkey off our back!  Other than that, everything went sooo smooth!  We were surprised how smooth things went.  I'm one is that not afraid to give God credit where it is due, so we both give Him all of the credit.  We would be nowhere without God.

We love where we live.  We live in a small rural town, and we love the peace and quiet there, but we are only about 1 hour from Savannah.  There is a lot to do there and A LOT of history there.  I'm a history fan, so it's great.  We have the best of both, the country living atmosphere, and the city life when we want it.
PHOTO ABOVE:  About two months after we had moved to Georgia, we went to Savannah, Georgia and took a fun horse carriage ride to tour the city.  We loved it!  The horse, Jasper, that pulled our carriage was so smart as well.

Joseph's first visit to the actual ocean!  Being from Chicago, they have the Great Lake Michigan there, and many Chicago natives go there in the summer to enjoy the beach.  He made it to the Atlantic Ocean in Tybee Island, Georgia....a short drive from Savannah.  We had a blast!
BELOW:  Touring the Owens-Thomas House and Slave Quarters in Savannah, Georgia.  We love seeing old architecture and this house did not disappoint.  If you like visiting history, you might consider this home.
Main entrance right in front of main entrance door of the main house at the Owen-Thomas House.
BELOW:  Is the Butler's prep station.  It would be our modern-day kitchen, however, back in the day, the servers had a special room to "plate the food" that was brought to them from the cooks in the kitchen.  This is what I call the plating station room.  :-)

BELOW:  The actual cooking and baking kitchen located downstairs of the main house of the Owens-Thomas House.  Wow, I don't see how the cooks did it with this old equipment, but I guess it was how it was done back in the day!

A sneak peek inside some of the old slave quarters behind the main house at the Owens-Thomas House.  I don't post this to stir up emotions of anger in anyone, I post it to simply share history.  You have to know where you've come from to move forward.
